Purchasing Consortium Finishes Another Solid Year; Annual Meeting Set for January 31

The Purchasing Consortium finished the Year Ended July 31, 2017 with total purchases of $6.3 million and estimated saving of an overall 20%. That compares to a volume of $6.4 million for the previous year. Individual volume and savings reports should go out to member schools next week.

Meanwhile, a preliminary analysis of the data reveal two trends;

  • In recent years, when we have been increasing the number of Agreements and members, the volume of purchases has remained flat. This indicates that school participation has actually been going down.
  • The newer agreements are struggling for participation, which was not anticipated by everyone involved in the negotiation of discounted pricing

These trends point to the importance of attending the upcoming Purchasing Consortium Annual Meeting on January 31 and brief informative conversations with vendor representatives. Both parties greatly benefit at this meeting, because the number one issue for vendors is the lack of an opportunity to meet and talk with people.

As a reminder, the PAISBOA Purchasing Consortium Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 31, from 8:00 a.m.-12 noon, at the Springfield Country Club, 400 W Sproul Rd, Springfield. Register TODAY!

This Meeting is important for several reasons:

  1. Participation in our four Consortiums (Purchasing, Energy Purchasing, HBT, and Business Insurance, provides important resources to the organization, which enables us to keep dues increases to a minimum and allows us to provide our professional development programs at no additional cost to the membership.
  2. All PAISBOA member schools are invited to the Purchasing Consortium Annual meeting because, like the others, it is designed to deliver important educational content. In the case of the Purchasing Consortium, members have the chance to meet and learn from all of our primary vendor representatives
  3. Discipline and commitment are important characteristics that contribute to the success of any consortium activity, and are necessary for its effectiveness. For this reason, attendance is required for all participating schools. Given the level of turnover in many schools and the fact that purchasing is often done by a number of people, the required representation aspect is even more important.

We promise you a good four-hour experience that morning – more than worth your time, and it promises to be an enjoyable day. Every member of the PAISBOA Purchasing Consortium should be represented, and other schools are welcome to come and see what we are doing.
